• Quantitative culture method is frequently used to determine the concentration of a microorganisms in a clinical sample. Since samples with high viscosity, such as sputum, do not contain equal amounts of microorganisms at every part, the sample must first be homogenized. This process is quite difficult when solutions such as phosphate buffer are used alone. BIOPROSAFE contains a tube containing N-acetyl-L-cysteine and polycarbonate beads to ensure liquefaction of the sample and facilitate homogenization. The sterile phosphate buffer required to make 1/10 dilutions of homogenized sample is available in 8 tubes.
