Rapid, Differential and Selective Medium For Culturing Mycobacteria

• The world health organization recommends the use of two different media for culture in the diagnosis of tuberculosis: TK SLC Liquid medium can be used together with the TK LJ RED solid medium.
• TK LJ Red is improved Lowenstein Jensen medium that can be integrated into rapid culture systems for M. tuberculosis isolation.

Selective

• It is a culture medium that enable the early detection of mycobacterial growth with the multiple color mark­ers it contains.
• It has much lower contamination rates than other rapid mycobacterial culture media and Lowenstein Jensen.
• It provides a selective environment for mycobacteria with the antifungal and antibacterials it contains.

Suitable for primary and advanced laboratories

• Color change as a result of bacterial growth can be easily evaluated with the naked eye and the tubes can also be monitored with MYCOLOR TK, a very advanced automatic incubator and reader.
• It can distinguish true mycobacterial growth from contamination by color change.
• The red color of the medium before culture, turns into yellow with mycobacterial growth, and turns green if many contaminant bacteria or fungi species grow.
• It does not contain radioactive or fluorescent dyes, it does not require a radioactivity counter, ultraviolet light or a special reader for evaluation.
